Oxygen Training
Our goal is to have every student graduate from our school with a solid skill set and thorough knowledge of the sport. Upon completing the SFPARA program you will be able to confidently launch, fly, and land your paraglider at sites around the world. Our instructors have combined their years of experience to create a comprehensive syllabus and training regimen that emphasizes fun and safety.
The key to learning is to internalize paragliding skills so that they become instinctual and habitual. As our student you will move from thinking and taking action to simply taking action. This is accomplished through the repetition of clean launches, smooth flights, and safe landings in a variety of sites and conditions. Instructors will work closely with you to develop a logical flight plan and ensure that you feel comfortable and confident before taking to the air. After you launch we will be carefully monitoring your flight and providing feedback and reassurance with radio communication.
You may notice a variety of instructors present at some of your lessons. We've developed this multiple instructor system to better monitor your progress from different perspectives and ensure you have the individual attention you need.
Although our program is highly structured, we recognize that students have unique schedules and progress at different rates. We have designed our courses with the flexibility to accommodate your needs.
1 DAY INTRODUCTORY LESSON $250
This course is designed to introduce you to the sport of paragliding. By the end of this class you'll have a general knowledge of the sport, a feel for the glider, and the chance to decide if paragliding is for you. The class, which lasts around 5 hours, will introduce you to the equipment, cover flight theory and basic skills, and get your feet off the ground with small controlled flights. All equipment is provided. Since most students in our introductory class are excited about continuing training, we've designed this course so that you can transition seamlessly into our certification classes, with the cost of the introductory course applied.
BEGINNER / NOVICE CERTIFICATION COURSE - $1975
This P1/P2 certification course will give you all the training and experience you need to become a USHPA certified pilot and confidently fly without supervision. The course includes lessons on flight theory, weather, equipment, and flight specific skills. You'll begin paragliding with small flights on gentle slopes and gradually move up to ridge soaring and circling inside mountain thermals. All gear is provided for the duration of the class and you'll also receive a training manual, flight log, and training syllabus. Students who complete our certification courses will receive exclusive discounts on equipment purchases, travel adventures, and advanced training clinics.
Course Preparation
Students attending on the hill training will be asked to wear ankle supportive shoes and full-length pants. We also suggest that you bring appropriate food and water, and sunscreen.
Classes usually commence in the early mornings, and continue till mid-afternoon, so conditions, and temperatures can vary dramatically. Dressing in layers (e.g. t-shirt, fleece, windbreaker) is recommended.
After your first class we also require that you check weather conditions before arriving on site, a habit you will keep for your entire time as a pilot.
